Requirements for Licensure
Requirements at the Master's Level for Psychologists Master's applicants must have a Master's degree in psychology. The degree must be from a regionally accredited school and coursework must be 80% on campus, which rules out schools offering distance learning. Master's candidates must be under the supervision of a licensed psychologist for a period of at least 5 years, meet an hourly requirement for supervision hours and psychology work hours and pass the EPPP (Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology) with a score of 500 or more. Once these requirements are met the candidate may sit for an oral examination with the Board or its committee. Fees for application total $225
Requirements at the Master's Level for School Psychologists - Level 1 School Psychology Master's
applicants must have a Master's or Education Specialist degree from a regionally
accredited school and coursework must be 80% on campus, which rules out schools
offering distance learning. School Psychology candidates must be under the
supervision of a licensed School Psychologist for a period of 3 years or 2 years
if the candidate has had an internship, meet an hourly requirement for
supervision hours and school psychology work hours and pass the Praxis exam with
a score of 660 or better. Once these requirements are met the candidate
may sit for an oral examination with the Board or its committee. Level 2 licensure can be obtained by continuing the process for an additional 2 years.
Requirements at the Doctoral Level for Psychologists Doctoral applicants must
have a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited school, schools offering
distance learning are accepted. Doctoral candidates must be under the
supervision of a Licensed Psychologist for a period of 2 years or 1 year if the
candidate has had an internship, meet an hourly requirement for supervision
hours and psychology work hours and pass the EPPP with a score of 500 or
better. Once these requirements are met the candidate may sit for an oral
examination with the Board or its committee.

Requirements for
Reciprocity Candidates
Psychologists
licensed in other jurisdictions may be eligible for licensure in West Virginia,
if the license was obtained under standards equal to or greater than that of
